The A-Blues scale introduces a chromatic "blue note" (flattened 5th), adding tension and a distinctively bluesy sound. This extra note creates unique phrasing opportunities and contributes a distinctive bluesy dissonance not present in standard pentatonic scales. The A-Blues scale is one of the most popular blues scales for guitarists, foundational in blues and rock improvisation, especially favored by guitarists for expressive solos and improvisation.
